The New England Revolution finally found a way to beat the Houston Dynamo in a Soccer Betting championship match but it wasn’t easy.

New England defeated Houston 3-2 to win the SuperLiga championship on Tuesday. The two teams tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and 2-2 at the end of two 15-minute overtime periods. New England defender Chris Albright scored against Houston goalkeeper Pat Onstad to give the Revolution a 6-5 lead in penalty kicks and New England goalkeeper Matt Reis tipped a shot by Corey Ashe off the crossbar to give the Revolution the win. It was the eight round of penalty kicks.

The game really got exciting in the overtimes. In the first 15-minute overtime, Houston took the lead when Kei Kamara headed in a cross from Brian Ching in the 98th minute. Just four minutes later New England’s Shalrie Joseph headed in the tying goal with an assist from Steve Ralston.

Chelsea star Didier Drogba is expected to miss the start of the Soccer Betting Premier League season. He is still recovering from a knee injury and is not expected back until the end of the month.”Didier will not play in our first game against Portsmouth and will probably miss the second against Wigan. If there are no more problems he should be ready for the game after that,” said manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.

It is possible that Drogba will be back for the game on August 31st against Tottenham but that is not a guarantee. “But when you have a knee injury, you just never know,” said Scolari, “I have been getting a progress report from the doctor every day. He’s getting better and is working with a fitness coach back at the training ground. I hope he will be ready to start training next week. But he will not play until he is in good condition.”

Drogba could be signing a new contract soon that would keep him at Chelsea until 2012. “I am confident talks with Chelsea will lead to a positive resolve about my future,” Drogba said.

The SuperLiga final is set as the New England Revolution will host the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday night. The two teams are very familiar with each other, having played in the last two Major League Soccer Cup finals. New England advanced to the final after a 1-0 win over Mexico’s Atlante. Shalrie Joseph scored in the 30th minute for the only goal of the match. Joseph scored off an assist from Steve Ralston. Goalkeeper Matt Reis posted his third shutout of the tournament. It was Joseph’s second goal of the SuperLiga. Reis made four saves to lower his goals against average in the tournament to 0.25.

Houston advanced to the final with a 2-0 win against Pachuca. Bobby Boswell and Corey Ashe scored goals in the final 13 minutes. The first half was scoreless but dominated by Houston. The second half was better for Pachuca but Houston goalkeeper Pat Onstad made a couple of nice saves.

Soccer’s a funny game. It makes up for playing at home against New England and dominating the game and losing 1-0 on a late penalty.

The 2008 MLS All-Star game on Thursday in Toronto matches up the best of the MLS against West Ham United from the Soccer Betting Premier League. Cristiano Ronaldo could be headed to Real Madrid, or he could not. The Glazer family, who owns Manchester United are talking like Ronaldo to Real Madrid is almost a certainty but other United officials are not so sure. Reports are circulating that the Glazers are now focused on the fee they will charge Real Madrid for the world’s best soccer player. It is expected to be a world record transfer fee, perhaps as high as 70-75 million Euro. Other reports have the club saying that Ronaldo will not be sold for any price.

Jorge Mendes is Ronaldo’s agent and he has reportedly told Manchester United that Ronaldo wants to go to Real Madrid. Ronaldo is set to have ankle surgery in the next few days and is availability for the start of next season is in question. He will not be making the preseason trip for Manchester United that begins in South Africa later this month.
