Barcelona Wins Against Atletico Madrid 3-0
Spanish La Liga football club Barcelona are just 2 points behind Spanish champions Real Madrid in the point standings of the La Liga, following a 3-0 home win at the Nou Camp against visitors Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
It only took Barcelona 15 minutes to gain the advantage when Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Christian Abbiati failed to hold on to a Lionel Messi cross. The ball then landed in front of the goal, and Barcelona midfielder Deco was able to push it in for the reboung.
In the 19th minute, Lionel Messi played a give-and-go with Ronaldinho which set up a Messi strike into the Atletico Madrid net past keeper Christian Abiatti. Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is now on a six-game scoring run, having scored 8 in the past six matches.
Atletico Madrid keeper was able to keep Thierry Henry from adding to his goal tally, but was unsuccessful in stopping Xavi Hernandez from slotting home a pass set up by Barcelona substitute Giovani Dos Santos in injury time to give Barcelona a 3-0 win.
Barcelona’s next Primera Liga match will be on October 21 against Villareal at Villareal’s home pitch at El Madrigal. Two days after, Barcelona will travel to the Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland, for a group stage match against Scottish Premier League’s runner-up Rangers FC.
